During electrolysis, air at the anode can trigger burning reactions, leading to higher anode consumption, carbon dusting, and reduced current efficiency. To mitigate these performance issues, it is crucial to produce anodes with minimal CO₂ reactivity. The RDC‑151 apparatus provide standardized testing of air reactivity through controlled heating, cooling, ensuring reliable measurement of residue, dust, and loss.

We also installed and commissioned a new Carbon Test Equipment that Sunstone has integrated into their laboratory to enhance and complete the quality analysis of their anode : the Specific Electrical Resistance Anode Apparatus (RDC-150), which measures a critical electrode performance indicator that affects voltage drop, production costs, material quality, and structural integrity.
